Born (1919) and educated in Waterford, Hutchinson took an interest in theatre after his involvement in several school plays. Before becoming head of the personnel department in a Dublin transport company, Hutchinson served six years with the Irish peace time army during WWII and his sole professionally produced work, 'No Man Is An Island', is based on his experiences during that time.
