Austin Clarke
A "poetic comedy" based upon a traditional tale from Co Wexford, the play concerns a servant named Cauth who is confronted by a succession of threats to her womanhood, each represented by expressionistic figures. A "charming variation on the Cinderella myth", according to the Irish Times.

Abbey Theatre/Amharclann na Mainistreach
This was a production at the Abbey by the Lyric Theatre Company, which grew out of Austin Clarke's Dublin Verse-Speaking Society and operated out of the the Peacock from 1941 to 1944 and the Abbey proper from 1944 to 1951.
