Kareen Pennefather is a writer, director, performer and theatre maker living and working in Ireland. Originally from England, she studied Theatre at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. Kareen is Joint Artistic Director of Monkeyshine Theatre, which she co-founded in 1999. Kareen has collaborated with many other companies and organisations throughout Ireland and internationally. In 2008 she won a Level One Social Entrepreneur Award for igniting social change through her work in Children’s Theatre. Her work includes theatre, interactive instillations, participatory projects and a number of stories for children.
