The house of Henry William Hollander on the North Mall, 1622.

  • Achoimre

In May 1622 the night sky of Cork City filled with tens of thousands of starlings, in two ‘armies’, engaged in aerial battle. The battle raged through the night, causing several thousand to plunge to the earth dead. On the same evening a story began in the cellar of Hollander house, a story heralding centuries of grand experiment and adventure, of great loss and extraordinary discovery.
