Edna O'Brien
Adapted from the 1960 novel by the author
Ireland in the 1950s. A parish in the West of Ireland; Dublin.
Kate and Baba are two young girls from the West of Ireland who have spent their childhood together. As they leave the safety of their convent school in search of life and love in the big city, they struggle to maintain their tumultuous relationship. Kate, dreamy and romantic, yearns for true love, while Baba just wants to experience the life of a single girl. As their lives in the city take unexpected turns, both Kate and Baba must ultimately learn to find their own way.
A new stage version of O'Brien's bestselling 1960 novel, originally banned in Ireland because of its treatment of sexual themes.
