  The action takes place on a hillside overlooking Dublin.

  Killiney Hill, south County Dublin on a Summer's afternoon in 1968. Three couples, careering towards middle age meet for a picnic. Their hopes, dreams and illusions not what they used to be, Leonard explores what happiness remains for each couple. Two of their children, observing from above, are embarrassed by their parents childishness but uncomfortable with their own impending adulthood. in the second half, Leonard gives us a chance to observe what life was like for them six years later.
