The character list is incomplete as no script has survived, and the names given are simply those which were highlighted in contemporary press cuttings.
Though it is twenty years since Ulster giant Conn Ligg has fought, his reputation is great and he retains his Roman trainer, Scrapius, to ensure rivals are discouraged. These include Olaf, a juvenile Scandanavian who seeks vengeance on Conn for killing his father, and Nab McNab, a Scots giant-trainer sent to assess the scale of the challenge Ligg presents to his Scots equivalents. Mrs. Brigid Conn herself proves a formidable contender, and together with her daughter devises plans to frighten the contenders away.
