Born in Co Derry in 1939, Seamus Heaney was Professor of Poetry at Oxford University from 1989 to 1994 and held a professorship at Harvard. In 1995, he won the Nobel Prize for literature. His collections of poetry include Death of a Naturalist, Wintering Out, North, Station Island and Human Chain. He wrote two plays, The Cure at Troy and The Burial at Thebes.
