Born in Naas, Co Kildare, Risteárd de Paor worked as a civil servant. He wrote plays and short stories in Irish. A number of his plays were performed on radio and 'Saoirse'(1955) and 'An Oidhreacht'(1958) were staged by the Abbey Theatre.
