Guy de Maupassant
1850 - 1893
French writer. He wrote poetry and novels, but specialised in shoer stories. He wrote of abnormal psychology, nighmarish situations and in lighter moods, comedy. He tried to commit suicide in 1892 and died in an asylum a year later.
