Brinsley MacNamara
The action passes at the present time, more or less, and in County Meath, between one Sunday in Spring and the next, at the house of James Heffernan in Garradice and at the shop of Molloy & Co., in Sheepstown.
A sequel by the same author 'Marks and Mabel' was staged at the Abbey in August 1945.
Comedy concerning the various fortunes and love lives of the Heffernan family. The title is a well-known proverb that can be taken to mean a multitude of things, but here it points to the Heffernan's cuteness when it comes to affairs of business and matrimony.
