Denis Johnston
Set in Dublin Castle and the Central Criminal Court in 1937.
Drawing on his experience as a barrister and the true story of a murder trial in 1852, Denis Johnston explores the question of whether the justice system can be fallible. When an artist's wife dies in mysterious circumstances on Ireland's Eye he is charged with her murder, and is convicted after his adulterous relationship with another woman is revealed. The prosecuting police officer is faced with a dilemma when evidence appears that might exonerate the man, and in the end relents.
