Set in the drawing room of Mrs. Downie's house, Dromeen, 1900 to 1922.
Set in Dromeen,Co. Cork. Scrutinising middle-class rural life and it's characteristic parochialism and set over a period of twenty five years Daly's play also explores the consequences of parental tyranny. Mrs. Downie has controlled her daughter Ninette's life so completely that Ninette has become dispirited and greatly inhibited from having a normal life. This leads to the disintegration of the Downie family.
