The Wind That Shook The Barley is a study of the effects of the threat of violence on those who would wish to remain neutral. The play is set in a West of Ireland studio home where an artistic couple have gone to establish a new life. The couple's isolation is shattered by the intrusion of a sinister young man and an elderly woman. The intrusion initially serves to aggravate tensions between the couple, until all the characters' perceptions are altered by the unfolding events.
