Trevor Griffiths
Palais de Luxembourg, Paris. April 1794, the height of the Great Terror.
An adaptation of the television drama 'Hope in the Year Two' by the same author.
A ransacked Palais de Luxembourg is home to a prisoner as famous as the Revolution itself. The authorities, fearful of a rescue attempt, have planted a decoy to confuse his supporters, for in less than twenty-four hours the Revolution will turn against one of its most celebrated protagonists and execute George Jacques Danton. Henry is the prisoner's warder, the "first fruiting" of the revolution and the last hope of its fading hero.
