Indian Summer is set during the 1920s, a turbulent period in Irish history. Miranda Martin is an 18-year-old living in a large country house. With her father engrossed in a scheme for the re-afforestation of Ireland, Miranda is left to the day-to-day running of the estate. Her brother Andrew, a British army officer, returns to Ireland with his regiment. Their task is the suppression of the struggle for independence.
