1881 - 1918
Born in Loughrea, County Galway, Seumas O'Kelly was a journalist, novelist and playwright. The Theatre of Ireland launched his dramatic career, and his later plays were staged by The Abbey Theatre. His short novel 'The Weaver's Grave' (1919) is a much-loved classic of Irish literature and still in print to this day.
