Completed around 1940 and published in the Dublin Magazine in 1948, 'There Are Tragedies and Tragedies' was first performed by the St Mary's College Musical and Dramatic Society, Dublin, in January 1953. The details listed here refer to the play's professional premiere in 1977, the centenary of Fitzmaurice's birth.
