Donal O'Kelly
Saturday 29th April 1916: Six days of armed insurrection and the exhausted leaders of the Easter Rising are holed up in number 16 Moore Street. A young nurse, Elizabeth O’Farrell, is chosen to carry Pearse’s offer of surrender to the British forces. Winding her way through war-torn streets, braving machine gun fire, Elizabeth delivers her message to General Lowe and so the leaders begin their journey to Kilmainham Gaol and the firing squad.
