Derry, 1689.
The first act of The Starving was produced, under the same title, by Point Fields Theatre Company as part of 'Angels With Split Voices II' at the Old Museum Arts Centre on 21/3/1995, under the direction of Nona Shepphard. The play was subsequently expanded and performed as listed.
In a city under siege, an innocent Yorkshire cobbler is imprisoned as an enemy spy for attempting to slip through the gates of the city disguised as a woman. He cannot disclose his true reason; he can only say that he has come for love, not harm.
