Eddie Bottom is a foreman on a new golf course in Donegal. His boss insists that he uproot a Fairy Thorn in the middle of the proposed fairway. The local workmen warn Eddie of what might happen if he does. Theresa, the Fairy Queen, whispers a lot more than sweet nothings into Eddie's ear, while O'Brien, the King of the Fairies, faces his own dilemma: should he disband the Fairy Kingdom to make way for progress, allowing the mortals to destroy the land?
