    Guests gather for a party in the living-room of middle-class Belfast widow Maria Carey, to fulfil her husband's request to mark the anniversary of his death. Each faces a personal crisis, but is living life apparently remote from the ongoing disturbances in the city around them. Then violence erupts, and their quiet individual existences are shattered.
