  • Achoimre

The Munroes from County Armagh are a staunch old Protestant family. Amongst their ancestors is one General Munroe, who was executed for leading a rebel army against the English in 1798. Prior to the execution a lock of his hair was cut off and preserved by the family as a memento. Now, a present-day Munroe is contesting an election in Kerrymore against a Nationalist candidate. At the same time, the relic is requested for an exhibition of famous Irish heirlooms in Dublin. When the story behind it comes to public attention, it makes front-page news, and the present-day Munroe candidate's chances are put in jeopardy.
